How to add a travel eSIM manually on Samsung Galaxy
Samsung Galaxy supports several eSIM activation routes on compatible devices. Manual entry works only when the provider supplies an activation code for your specific plan.
Galaxy setup path
Open SIM manager
Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM.
Choose activation code
Select the manual-code option shown for your device and region.
Set preferred SIMs
After download, choose data, calls and messages deliberately.
Get the plan details first
Find the activation code in the seller's order, not in an example online. A QR code and a manual activation code are related ways to provision a specific profile, but a provider may only make one method available. Confirm the exact Galaxy model supports eSIM in your market and the phone is not locked to another carrier. Connect to Wi-Fi before opening SIM manager so the profile download does not depend on the new line already working.
Add the profile and choose its role
Samsung's support path is Settings, Connections, SIM manager, Add eSIM. On supported models, choose the option to enter an activation code and follow the prompts. If the phone finds a carrier-assigned plan automatically, make sure it is the order you intend to add. Once the new profile appears, give it a clear label. Select the travel line for mobile data only when the purchased plan covers the current country; decide separately which SIM handles calls and messages.
A data-only travel plan will not create a telephone number for ordinary SMS. If you need bank texts, keep the home line available under the terms of that carrier. Review whether data roaming must be enabled on the travel line for the provider's partner network and disabled on the home line to avoid surprise charges. A successful download at home may show no foreign service until arrival; this is different from a failed installation.
| Checkpoint | Expected result | If missing |
|---|---|---|
| SIM manager | Add eSIM option | Check model and regional support. |
| Manual code | Provider-issued details | Ask provider for supported method. |
| Downloaded profile | New line in SIM manager | Save error and contact support. |
| Preferred data SIM | Travel line when in coverage | Select it after arrival. |
Resolve a rejected code safely
Check character accuracy and whether the code was already used. Capture the exact error, phone model and order reference. Ask the provider whether manual activation is supported and whether a fresh code is required. Do not remove your functioning home SIM, erase other eSIMs or repeatedly reset network settings for a code problem. Samsung notes that removing a mobile plan from the phone does not cancel the commercial service; handle any billing issue separately with the provider.
