Travel eSIM shows data left but has no internet: why?

A positive balance in the provider app is only one part of a working connection. The package may be outside its validity window or country coverage, the phone may be using the wrong line, or the network may not have registered. Follow a short ordered check so you can tell support exactly where service stops.

Balance is only one check

Order

Confirm package active dates and destination.

Phone

Confirm travel line is selected and roaming set as instructed.

Network

Check registration and test a simple page.

Do not buy a top-up until the reason for the failure is clear.

Read all package fields

Open the exact order, not only a summary balance. Check the country list, activation state, validity end time and whether the remaining number refers to a daily or total allowance. An unlimited plan may have a high-speed threshold or fair-use rule that affects speed without showing zero data. A top-up may be attached to another eSIM profile. Match the provider order to the line actually installed on the phone.

Check the active line

With Wi-Fi off, verify the travel eSIM is enabled and selected for mobile data. Follow the provider's instruction for data roaming on that line; keep the home SIM's roaming choice separate. Check whether signal bars belong to the travel or home network. Toggle airplane mode briefly, then try a simple non-app website. If only one app fails, troubleshoot that app rather than the whole data connection.

Contact support with a complete snapshot

If the plan is active, covered and selected but general web still fails, record the country, network shown, device model, local time, remaining balance and exact error. Ask the provider whether its partner network or account provisioning has an issue. Change APN or manual network selection only according to provider instructions. Do not delete the eSIM, because the same QR may not be reusable and the installed identifiers can help support.

Do not buy the same problem twice

A new top-up can leave you disconnected if the underlying issue is an excluded country, expired validity, wrong data line or unavailable partner network. Before paying again, capture the exact order's balance and dates, then verify the travel eSIM is selected and a general website fails with Wi-Fi off. Check whether the provider shows a separate daily or high-speed allowance. If all fields look valid, ask support to inspect provisioning and registration for your order. Keep the installed profile in place while they investigate. Buying another plan is a fallback only after you know what the first plan cannot provide.
